First Day of School

I thought I would be homeschooling this year. Ashton's kindergarten year was sub-par at best. That whole year I spent time researching and looking into homeschooling. Along with that research I prayed and prayed and prayed to know if I was supposed to homeschool. My homeschooling friends felt very sure answers to their prayers that they were supposed to homeschool so I anxiously awaited mine. Nothing came, so I assumed I'd feel the confirmation after I started. The summer started and I started doing about an hour of school in the mornings. It was easy! It was effective and the kids were cruising. I'm sure in just a few months we could have had them finish an entire year worth of public school curriculum. Did I like it? Yes. But I wasn't positive that's what I was supposed to be doing this year but I pressed forward. Then we bought a house... right behind an elementary school. My parents and I had long talks about the school situation while we stayed in St. George. Then David and I decided to put them in school. After that decision was made I felt so relieved instead of in limbo. I took that as I good sign. Then I went to check out the school and I fell in love. Their attendance policy was mellow, their campus was well organized and everyone was so friendly. Then we met their teachers and I felt even better. After their first week of school and I felt 100% sure about our decision to put them in school this year.

Ashton and Hannah walking home the first day.
It takes us three minutes to walk them to school and they can walk home all by themselves. We're so close. Who knows what the schooling future will hold for our family but I am off my anti public school podium. We'll assess needs year by year and make prayerful decisions. The kids are so happy at school and love their teachers. I get them home everyday by 2:50 and we're all so happy that we feel good about this decision!!

Lucy Turns 2!

Lucy is a doll. She really really is. She says "Please Mama, Thank you Mama, Okay Mama" most of the day. She's mellow and warms up to most new people within an hour. She gives lots of hugs and kisses and doesn't mind being doted upon by the entire family. I spoil her like crazy because she is just so darn cute. She has a "baby" that she loves and takes everywhere. She is obsessed with her binkie and blankie and loves naps (most days she still takes 2!) She is adored. Happy Birthday Lucy!!

She loved those candles!! We love her!!
