San Antonio

We got back yesterday from our vacation to San Antonio with David's family. It was hotter than stink but we had A LOT of fun!

The first day we headed to the Alamo...
But it was so hot that we decided to spend our time in the souvenir shops...
This is the fam minus 2 brothers and their wives. We filled up every seat in the van on the way down. It was pretty funny.
We discovered the wall of hats was more entertaining than standing outside in the heat.

Ashton was sweating to death but he looked good in his little racoon hat.

These are David's parents.
Don't you wish your in-laws were as cool as mine and had dread locks?

David and his little brother Cody were looking at the romance machine. I think they decided on passionate and sexy.
Don't quit your day jobs boys!

What on earth is going on in this picture you might ask? See video #2 at the bottom of the blog for the full explanation. At our dinner on the River Walk they had a Mexican Band go aroudn to all the tables to play something. We requested the Devil Went Down To Georgia. Don't let Ashton's face fool you - he really liked it.
Us on the River Walk. So cool. We're defintiely going back there some day.

Now onto SEA WORLD!
David was the star of the sea lion pre-show.
He is actually proposing to this girl.
She was doing this big theatrical miming act with the audience and picked David out as her crush. It was hilarious. She tricked him into getting onto his knee and then asked for a kiss on the cheek and turned her head for a real kiss. To see David dancing infront of a huge audience see video #1. (And here I was thinking he was shy....)
Here is Ashton enjoying Shamu. You can see how bad he was sweating the poor kid. Can we say HEAT WAVE!! Shamu was better than I could have imagined. I'm not an animal lover nor did I expect to be wowed by a whale. But the show was amazing and was set around believing that anything is possible. The videos, the music and the trainer basically dancing with this killer whale made me cry. YES, I cried at the Shamu show. You would have too... it was MAGICAL.

This is Ashton's new best friend. He spent most of the early mornings in our hotel room playing with him. I think they are a match made in Heaven.

And in case you wonder what Ashton does if I'm blogging while he's awake this is it. He dumps out our basket of junk from the computer desk and is happy for a good 20 minutes. His recent favorites are the metal whole punch and the gym key.
After Sea World we headed to Schlitterbahn, one of the biggest water parks in the U.S. It was really huge and a lot of fun. Ashton loved the kiddie pool and since we couldn't do a lot of the big rides.
Other news: Ashton is "real" crawling everywhere and has been for almost 2 weeks. He can eat a whole vanilla wafer without anyone breaking it apart for him. And our thrush is almost gone (thank goodness).
And we have officially 9 days left before David goes back to school. Now to go take advantage of it...

Aw, what cute pictures! I especially love the picture of Ashton and his "friend" in the hotel room! Too funny! I can't wait for our next family vacation(whenever it may be!), and I hope you get to enjoy the next 9 days as much as possible!

Oh, and you REALLY liked Breaking Dawn? Because I thought it was just okay and not my favorite of the books. Maybe because I read it in little bits and kept being interrupted that I never got a chance to fully get into it. But still, I was bored for about a third of the book.

cute pics. Way to Dance David. So are we going to expect a performance of the whole thing on the next ward talent show? Not that we have ward talent shows, so you could probably safely say 'yes'!

You sure do recognize the apron! I think mine stayed in my suitcase the whole mish. I didn't cook much. I must admit it's still weird to see you with a child but he sure is cute.
