Mallie turns 2!
This little girl turned 2 yesterday. I love this picture of her. She usually pulls out her bows and rubberbands and you can see just how skinny she is.
We went to the pool for 3 hours with friends. The kids came home and took a 2 hour nap and by then David was home. We ate pizza, opened presents and did cake. Hence the pool hair in most of these pictures.
Mallie opening presents.
Counting her birthday money.
Getting ready for cake.
Blowing out candles.
She loved her grocery cart. She is always hoarding toys and food and now she has a way to push them around. Mallie is such a happy and easy kid. She embodies being a 3rd child. It's amazing at the age of 2 I already know that she will always take care of herself. She gets her own food and drinks. She can put on her own clothes and she tells us when she needs a new diaper. She's always babbled but now she's linking three and four words together. She is independent and fierce. In nursery when some of the bigger boys try to take the toy she is playing with she pushes them right down and yells no. I kind of adore that about her. She still only weighs about 24lbs and is the youngest so she gets carried on my hip anytime she wants. Hopefully this new baby doesn't rock her world too much! Happy Birthday Mallie Jane!

A Surprise and Tractors
I'm so bad at surprises. Even when I have a really good one planned I get so excited and tell David before it happens. But I finally pulled one off. Last month the mirror that someone gave us fell right off the dining room wall and broke so we had a huge blank wall staring us down for a few weeks. David has wanted the Prayer at Valley Forge painting since before we were married. First I was going to get it for him when he signed up with the army in dental school. Then I was going to do it when he graduated dental school. The next plan that fell through was to get it for him when we moved to Fort Leonard Wood. Every time I went to buy it I remembered how much debt we had and opted to hold off.
Last week gave me another reason. David signed on for 3 additional years in the Army. They offered a huge loan payoff incentive to doctors and dentists if they'd sign on for a few extra years. And if you're like us and didn't get your first year paid for, had 3 kids, paid for those 3 births out of pocket and paid over $12,000 for a skull surgery... a loan payoff incentive is heaven sent. Not to mention that we absolutely love the army life so it was an easy decision for us.
So I splurged and kept it a surprise. David walked in from work and Ashton ran over and told him to check our his surprise. He was thrilled. He is such a patriot and history buff and now that he's serving in the army this is even more special.
The other event of the day was the new sewage pipes they're installing across the backyards. We turned the couch around and watched the tractors and bull dozers for a good hour.
Then David let the kids go crazy in it. They got so filthy that we had to fill up the kiddie pool and strip them down just so they were clean enough to come in for a real bath. That is all our backyard. It's awesomely huge.
I love how they brought out their tractors immediately. Now that Mallie is almost two they all play without me worrying about a little toddler out there. It's so fun to watch the three of them play together even if they are dumping dirt on eachother's heads.
We love our house. It still seems so huge to us. In the army if you live on post you're rewarded with a bigger house the more kids you have without paying a penny more. There is something so right about that. Well, that's the update for now. 35 weeks and counting down!

I wish I had gone around and taken pictures of the inside and out of our apartments and last house. Some day these will be fun to look and have our remember when moments. So you'll probably see more of the inside as I get around to it and cross things off my list before the baby comes.

4th of July
Our summer vacations in Midway make me wish I could go back and be 4 years old again. Tons of cousins running around, perfect weather, an enormous backyard with soft Utah grass, scooter rides, shaved ice, the Timp freeze, Daisy (my Mom's ranger) a 6 foot tall blow up double water slide. But as a 27 year old I still thought it was basically paradise. Even David went on the kiddie slide without popping it.
This year we did an Ashton olympics. One e-mail out to my siblings and we had a full on show. Jake and Susie brought up huge speakers and planned out the opening ceremonies complete with a torch and walking in with the flag.
They even brought accessories for all the kids to hold and wave.
There's my little olympian.
Meet Evey
I can't finish blogging about our vacation without talking about Evey. Cally and Nate are two of the least public internet people in our family but I can't help it. Evey is 5 weeks old and from the day she was born doctors have tried to unofficially diagnosed with several things including down syndrome and noonans. As she gets older and do more tests they keep ruling things out right now as they are still awaiting her genetics test but the docs are pretty sure that it's DiGeorge syndrome. Meaning the deletion of part of chromosome 22 causing craniofacial abnormalities a weak heart and several other things. She'll have her craniosynostosis operated on in a matter of months and then her internal cleft palate at 9 months. Her mental capacity is unknown and her hearing is almost non existent. She's already been on her first life flight helicopter ride and this is her at primary children's hospital a couple of days ago.Now that the background is out of the way. What I really wanted to write about was her baby blessing. After we took our annual Christmas pictures at the church my Dad asked the oldest nephews and niece if they would watch the other 30 grand kids in the gym. Literally each 12 year old took a door and quarantined all the other kids so the adults could go into the Relief Society room without interruption. What followed was the most tender baby blessing I've ever heard and incredible testimonies given by Nate and Cally. They are rocks in the Gospel. As they shared their knowledge of the plan and their understanding of the Lord's will we all bawled. They have no idea what the future has in store for little Evey but there never was any pause in their faith. My Mom shared that as we were all crying for Cally and Nate the first few weeks of Evey's life because of the unknown she soon realized others were crying on the other side of the veil because they were already missing one of their choicest spirits. It's true and as Cally once put it we all get to mooch off Evey's goodness. I'm so grateful we all got to be there for her blessing and even more glad I got to see first hand how amazing my sister and her husband are. Please keep Evey and her parents in your prayers as she faces more tests and surgeries. Thank goodness for the knowledge of the Plan of Happiness so we can truly appreciate this little girl's mission.

Feeding the Ducks
Every summer we relive one of my favorite childhood memories of feeding the ducks. I used to go to this big pond with my grandma when I was the kids age. I'm pretty sure I've posted it on the blog every summer too.
The geese came in towards the end and finished off the rest of the bread within seconds.
I'm pretty sure I have a picture of me at this age making this exact same face.
33 weeks pregnant looks a whole lot bigger with number four... no joke.
The perfect morning with these four.
We love Midway.
