I've finally met our neighbors.

I can breathe easy now that the kids are napping. I posted the lame confessions blog post below for lack of anything better to say. That's what I get for thinking life has been exceptionally boring this week so far. Let me explain.

Our house is basically split in half. We have 1 big great room, the kitchen, washer and dryer, the front door and back door all on one side. Then there is a narrow hallway that leads to the guestbath and all the bedrooms. There is also a door there that had a very old handle on it. Sometimes David and I get locked on one side but the other is always there to let us out. Knowing that that has happened a couple of times we should have predicted this would happen eventually.

As you can imagine Ashton closed the hallway door today. The bad news is he & I were on the bedroom side and Hannah was in the living room. Did I mention the bedroom side is also the "trapped side". So as my brain starts to go in over drive I realize that the front door and back door are both locked and my keys are on that side of the house. The toolbox is also on that side of the house. So I climbed out Ashton's bedroom window (thank goodness we're in an old house with no screens) as I started to hear Hannah cry on the other side. I ran to our neighbors and asked for a flat head screw driver. And realized it's much harder to get back in a window like this than it is to get out. So I dove head first in... I know just picture me 5 months pregnant shimmying back in. Ashton thought I was pretty cool.

I figured out how to take the door handle off and opened the door to this sad girl. This picture was taken after 5 minutes of calming her down... she's the emotional one in the family.
I had Ashton pose by the door and he was more than thrilled to do so.
He looks so old in this picture. Ignore the homeless hair. Hannah always manages to get a bow but Ashton is lucky to have his hair touched on any day but Sunday.

And now I'm walking around with a screw driver in my back pocket because it's super windy and this door keeps getting blown shut and I don't know how to take that silly middle part out.

I doubt I'll complain about lack of blogging material for awhile.

solution? take the door off it's hinges and put it in the garage until you move out! ;)

Wow, what an adventure! You should make a story full of all the frightful and crazy adventures that you've had. :)

I can just imagine you climbing through the window. Thanks for that image! And, Ashton looks like he's 5 years old in that picture. Glad you figured out a way to get back in. LOVEYOU!

You have some unique things happen to you!! You could take the door off, but it is nice to close off the bedrooms so it will be quieter. I think that maybe a key outside would be a good idea! Poor Hannah! She is such a cutie and Ashton does look so grown up. He looks like he is 4 or 5. Be careful with that tummy of yours. The baby had a nice ride!!:)
