Snow Days and News

So we all know about Texas' bizarre weather patterns. On Tuesday the city basically shut down do to an ice storm. Then last night it snowed about 6 inches that came down on top of our inch of ice. I know everyone else kinds of rolls their eyes when we Texans make a big deal about snow... but it IS! The whole metroplex shuts down. We don't have enough sand trucks to even make a dent anywhere but the freeways. So almost everyone has been housebound for 4 days. I love that we're eating all of our meat from the freezer and using our boxes of foods that may or may not end in a "a-roni".

Our view from the front yard.
We had to make do without winter clothes... when she walked off the driveway it came up to her knees.

Before he went in to tackle her.

The backyard.

And I realize posting this picture is about my ego. But after 4 craft fails in the last week. I was proud to say that atleast this icing came out well. Thanks for indulging me. My self esteem needed it.

I made some regular frosted ones so Ashton could decorate. Can you see the cookie under those sprinkles? Nothing like the combination of cabin fever and a sugar high!
And last but certainly not least... we got our base assignment!
Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. It was our 3rd choice and while I was secretly hoping for NY I'm so glad to know that we'll live by family. Ben and Emily said they prayed us there. And we prayed that we'd go where we're meant to go and I think it worked our perfectly - they'll be a huge help in making the transition into army life.
And here's a map - just incase you don't remember exactly where Missouri is...

I better go look up some facts about Missouri like the state flower or something... you know, just to make it feel official.

YEAH!!! I don't know the state flower, but the State bird is the Blue Bird (between the two of us we have lived way too many times in this state!) We can't wait!

I like this news - Missouri isn't so far from Dallas and can easily be a stop on the way to Minnesota. Looks like one summer we'll make a road trip to pick up Chris & Luke!
